Thriving Habitats and Abundant Wildlife Work Group

Purpose

The Thriving Habitats and Abundant Wildlife Work Group is responsible for promoting the conservation, restoration, management, and appreciation of the Long Island Sound Partnership’s priority coastal habitats, wildlife, and Stewardship Areas through an improved understanding of current threats and conservation priorities.

Objectives

• Identify areas for eelgrass, coastal habitat, and riverine restoration.
• Identify priority coastal habitats for invasive species management.
• Support adaptive management and maintenance of priority habitat and restoration sites.

Goals

• Restore and protect the Sound’s ecological balance in a healthy, productive, and resilient state for the benefit of both people and the natural environment.
